If you get to know just one Polish band from the 80s, I’d make it Maanam. Fronted by the ridiculously talented and uber cool Kora, they somehow captured the mood of a whole generation under communist rule.

In “Kocham cię, kochanie moje”, the title phrase is repeated almost 20 times. It gives the song a bit of an obsessive undertone 😅 but repetition is the key to learning! Listen a few times and you’ll never forget this phrase.

Kocham cię = I love you
Kochanie moje = my love

Just be sure to pay attention to the pronunciation, so you don’t mix up “kocham cię” (I love you) with “kocham się”, which means “I love myself” 😆

There’s many more of course, but here are a few to get started:

  • Krakowskie spleen
  • Cykady na Cykladach
  • Wyjątkowo zimny maj
